Advent Season

The Joy Puzzle

Scripture: Luke 1:47

CHRISTMAS DAY, DEC. 25

“Build the frame first,” my dad always said when we worked a puzzle with

him every Christmas. We learned to construct the outside edges at the start and

trust that the inside pieces would then fall into place. I like to imagine each of our

lives as a marvelous puzzle the Lord is building daily. The Word of God stands as

the border that supports and defines our existence. But the inside pieces must be

infused with the gift of faith before they reflect the fruits of the Spirit.

Jesus alone authors our joy—the abiding joy that carries us through hardship,

sorrow, illness, and ultimately death. When we frame and fill our lives with the

person and work of Jesus and His promises, we partake in His joy, the same

joy that carried Him to the cross to die for us. And as it did for His mother,

Mary, everything fades to inconsequence compared to the gift of knowing our

Savior and the significance of His birth and His sacrifice. A beautiful old carol

puts it plainly:

Good Christian men, rejoice with heart and soul and voice!

Now ye hear of endless bliss: Joy! Joy! Jesus Christ was born for this!

He hath opened heaven’s door and man is blessed forevermore.

Christ was born for this! Christ was born for this!

If we believe Jesus’s journey from creche to cross leads us to heaven and eternal

life with Him, could that could bring us more joy?

Prayer: Thank you, merciful Lord, for opening sinners’ hearts and heavens door. AMEN

“Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.”

Ephesians 4:32

26 in 26 for Christians

Dr. Nathaniel Kent

  1. Start your day with a life-giving Bible verse
  2. Take five minutes to rest and reflect every day.
  3. Be more generous with your smiles. They look good on you!
  4. Pack your lunch instead of grabbing fast food. This will be good for your waistline and your wallet! (Take that, 2024!) Bonus points if you pack an extra for your roommate, too.
  5. Delete one hurtful word or phrase from your vocabulary, then replace it with something more constructive. Tip: Don’t forget to remove it from your thoughts about yourself, too.
  6. Shop local when you can. It’s an easy way to support your community.
  7. Keep thank you notes at your desk and find reasons to give them to coworkers. Tip: Set a goal of sending at least one per week.
  8. Permit yourself to take a break. Find time to take a vacation (or staycation).
  9. Whenever you can, give up your spot in line to the person behind you.
  10. Stretch, exercise, and drink more water.
  11. Commit to making every social media comment positive this year.
  12. Set a daily alarm on your phone to remind you to take a moment to pray for someone. Bonus points for each time you text that person afterward to let them know.
  13. Find a new way to compliment someone you care about each day. Here’s some help if you’re at a loss for how to start.
  14. Call a family member every week.
  15. Regularly schedule a time to take a walk and pick up any trash you see along the way.
  16. Whisper to your kids when you feel like yelling at them.
  17. Bring in your neighbor’s trash can, mow their lawn, or bake extra cookies. You get it: Be a good neighbor.
  18. Test the boundaries of your comfort zone by trying something new. Baby steps are okay!
  19. Read more. Join (or start!) a book club for accountability.
  20. Make your mornings less hectic by encouraging your family to pick out clothes and pack bags the night before.
  21. As you leave the house each day, ask God to guide your thoughts, your words, and your steps.
  22. Find a way to make a difference in someone else’s life. Serve at a local non-profit.
  23. Put people’s birthdays in your calendar, and then make a point to shoot them a text on their special day.
  24. Make your Bible reading habit easier by trying out guided scripture at a prescribed time and sequence.
  25. Take the first step toward a dream you’ve always wanted to pursue.
  26. Reduce your weekly average screen time by five minutes each week and increase your time in relationship building.

The Bible in A Year

In 2026 we want to strengthen our relationship with our GOD what better way than spending time with HIM daily.

Prayerfully the suggested daily readings will help you strengthen your walk with our GOD

 2026 Beyond the ordinary

21 Day Fast

The Purpose of Fasting

Fasting is designed to intensify our dependence on God by weakening our

dependence on food and other comforts. It exposes the ways we often turn to food,

entertainment, or busyness to cope with stress, disappointment, or pain. As these

distractions are removed, what is inside us is revealed—both the areas God wants to

heal and the places where we need to grow.

Fasting also teaches us that we can go without getting what we want and still

survive. It cultivates self-control, contentment, and humility. More than anything,

fasting expresses and deepens our hunger for God. It reminds us that we are

sustained not by food, but by GOD Himself.

Day 17: January 28, 2026 God's Workmanship

Read: Ephesians 2:10 (KJV) – "For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus

for good works, which God prepared ahead of time for us to do."

Reflect: You're God's masterpiece for mission. See ____________________ as

someone that was created by God. Pray for their purpose in Christ.

Pray: Father, craft ____________________ for Your good works. Shape my life to

display Your artistry, loving them toward their calling. Amen.
